2016 Kumeu River Pinot Gris 93/100

Very appealing pinot gris with pear, spicy apple and ginger flavours. It's a very tactile wine, with good weight and a creamy texture. A hint of sweetness is perfectly balanced by fine, drying tannins that promote a drying finish. 04 AUG 2017

2016 Kumeu Village Chardonnay 91/100

2016 was a moderately challenging vintage but Village Chardonnay is better than ever. Their new cross-flow filter has given added hi-fidelity to the wine according to winemaker, Michael Brajkovich. Lemon, pineapple and peach flavours with good weight and a bone-dry, slightly grippy, finish. Purity and power 04 AUG 2017

2016 Kumeu River Estate Chardonnay 95/100

A significant step up on the entry level Village Chardonnay with greater concentration and complexity. Quite Mâcon-like this year in a fruit-focused style with melon and peach the most obvious flavours, although they are supported by subtle nut and bran characters. Good now but will reward cellaring. 04 AUG 2017

2016 Kumeu River Coddington Chardonnay 96/100

Ripe, quite lush chardonnay with stone fruit, peach, apricot and nectarine flavours, with citrus and a seasoning of hazelnut and ginger characters. A very attractive wine with an impeccable balance and a lingering finish 08 AUG 2017

2016 Kumeu River Hunting Hill Chardonnay 95/100

Tight, linear wine in a slightly edgy, fine-boned style with citrus, oyster shell, mineral and spicy oak flavours. A little closed and hard to read now but with obvious cellaring potential. 08 AUG 2017

2016 Kumeu River Mate’s Vineyard Chardonnay 96/100

Quite a concentrated chardonnay with lime, citrus, hazelnut, bran biscuit and a suggestion of tropical fruits, mango and pineapple. A weighty wine with impressive length and complexity. Good now but will obviously respond well to bottle-age 08 AUG 2017
