The Kumeu River Estate Chardonnay is really the one wine that has made our reputation internationally. The first vintage was 1985 and the first exported vintage to the UK was 1986. It was the 1987 Kumeu River Chardonnay that was served to Stephen Browett of Farr Vintners blind to which he thought was the best White Burgundy he had tried in a while. Farr Vintners have bought evey vintage of Kumeu River Estate Chardonnay since. Complex and layered this wine is a selection of the finest plots of Chardonnay around Kumeu, hand harvested, whole bunch pressed and fermented with wild years in French Oak. The 2016 is already delicious but will no doubt get even better with a few years bottle age - if you can keep your hands off it.
